THE TAKER
By Melissa L. Webb
T’was the night before Christmas
And all through the house,
A creature was stirring
But it wasn’t a mouse.
It crept in slowly
Looking for bad girls and boys
It scurried about
Taking back all their toys.
They didn’t deserve them
It was plain to see
So it set out
To deliver some misery.
It emptied their toy boxes,
It emptied their room.
It emptied their closets,
Leaving nothing but gloom.
It took their video games,
And even their pets.
The children needed punished;
To repay their debts.
It left the kids without anything.
It took everything fun.
It then searched the house,
Making sure it was done.
It crawled up the chimney
Taking all Christmas cheer.
Then hurried to the next house
Swifter than reindeer.
So, dear Children
Always remember this;
Santa gives to those who deserve
But the Taker takes what you’ll miss.
So always be good
Santa will give to you, too
But if you are naughty
The Taker knows what to do.

I’ve been good! Honest! Please don’t take my toys….
Oh my, a warning
for all girls and boys.
You’d better be good,
if want some toys!
^__^
So, this guys is Anti Clause?
More people deserve a visit from the Taker.
The Repossession Claus, I see. So Santa’s outsourced the naughty list?
The Germans have an anti-santa called Krumpus. Kinda the same thing, but he also puts naughty kids in a sack, takes them back to their layer, and eats them.
I just replaced “The Taker” when I read it out loud to my wife with Krumpus and she loved it
Thanks for posting this.
LOL That is one perceptive thief!
Hey, he’s a meanie! He’s the evil brother of the Grinch. This could be set to some weird music.. Why don’t you ask Emma Newman to record a voice over for you @EmApocalyptic
Nice poem and a good idea. Let’s spread the word and bring this myth to life. I’ll be teliing the kids I know anyway. Might have noticed a typo incidentally: the third line of the fifth verse is punished. I’m no poet but grammatically I think it should be punishing.
